Hi Mark,
A draft on S.N.A.P have been made public today and I forward the
announcement FYI.
Due to other work we have been a couple of weeks behind schedule on
S.N.A.P. We know that many of you HA enthusiasts are eager to start
using it in your own applications and S.N.A.P draft (Rev. 0.91) is
now available for download from our web site at...
http://www.hth.com/snap/
We welcome any feedback and suggestions you may have. Within a few
weeks we will also make source code examples available.
What is S.N.A.P?
----------------
S.N.A.P (Scaleable Node Address Protocol) is an open network protocol.
This protocol is primary intended for our PLM-24 based home automation
system but it is a generic protocol and not limited to this. S.N.A.P
can be used in any type of applications where an easy to learn and
flexible network protocol is needed.
Features.
- Easy to learn, use and implement.
- Open and free (for non-commercial use) network protocol.
- Scaleable binary protocol with small overhead.
- Requires minimal MCU resources to implement.
- Up to 16.7 millions node addresses.
- Up to 24 protocol specific flags.
- Up to 24 user definable flags.
- Optional ACK/NAK request.
- 8 different error detecting methods (CRC, FEC etc.).
- Can be used in master/slave and/or peer-to-peer.
- Supports broadcast messages.
- Media independent (power line, RF, TP, IR etc.).
