I have several controlled by SSR's they have worked fine for several
years now, I control them from HV and a RF receiver. With SSR you have
to remember that there is a small leakage current even when off. SSR's
are quite small.

I'm sure you are looking for a better answer
But relays seem to be exactly what you are looking for
A quick trawl through the RS catalogue should find you suitable Mains
Relays
which are easy to mount and insulate in the Socket Box

Does anybody know of any easy to control (via linux/win preferably
linux)
sockets.
Becuase I dont want the bulky x10 plugin applicance sockets I want them
to
"look" normal, I will have plenty of cat 5 near them, if needed,
or I
can
run extra control wires easily.
Thanks steve
