Nigel,

I have done a little bit of digging for you and it seems that the Bush set top box is a RISC based machine, that has been stripped down, so from a hardware perspective you should be able to 'add' the bits that were 'removed'.

From a software side there are two possibilities I can think of. Apparently if you hold the shift key when powering up then you can get to the command line prompt, then typing Basic gets you in to the old BBC Basic OS !!!  From here you could have a look around and see what can be modified to stop the ISP being dialled, instead adding your network params.  The second option is the unit will boot from a 100Mb Zip drive  connected to the parallel port - theoretically at least you could add your own or other commercial software to run from here.

Let me know how you get on, would certainly be interested in the knowing the progress & results.

Mark

Not sure if anyone has looked at these but I see Makros is selling off the
Bush Set Top Internet boxes with IR Keyboard for £15 plus VAT. They have a
model number of IBX250

I had looked at these before and thought they would be good if you could
replace the Modem with a NIC, you would then have cheap access to the
Intranet on your telly and with a suitably configured Pronto it would be
quite a simple solution.

Only trouble is I cannot find any info on these so don't have any idea where
to start hacking....

Nigel
