Hi all

Thank you for all of your replies and sorry for not responding sooner.

I have a few points I'd like to clarify, a few definite decisions I've
made=
=3D=0D
and a few more=20
questions that I'd be keen to have your advice on.

Clarification:
----------
1 - I guess I've been using the term "network" a little loosely.
I have ind=
=3D=0D
eed designed=20
a structured cabling system using cat5e and nothing else run to a central
l=
=3D=0D
ocation and=20
not daisy-chained.

2 - I intend to use it for LAN, audio and video and who knows what else in
=
=3D=0D
the future=20
and was simply wishing to know of any "clashes". I was aware of
potential i=
=3D=0D
ssues with=20
using telephones but do not intend to go down that route anyway.

Decisions (So far):
---------------

1 - Will be using cat5e.
2 - Currently have 32 wires throughout the entire house - am thinking of
ad=
=3D=0D
ding a=20
few more.
3 - Electrician has agreed to run all cable to required points from Node
Ze=
=3D=0D
ro and=20
fixing metal boxes to wall prior to plasterers coming in for =A3250. I
will=
b=3D=0D
e doing all=20
punching down and fitting of sockets etc. and supplying cable. I thought
th=
=3D=0D
is was a=20
very good price - any comments welcome.

Further Questions:
---------------

1 - Sharing Audio - I notice you mentioned about speakers being an issue
Ke=
=3D=0D
ith - can=20
you clarify this further regards how to use audio then? Am I right in
think=
=3D=0D
ing that by=20
this you mean audio should be "sent" via cat5e, for example, to
an amplifie=
=3D=0D
r rather=20
than speakers themselves?

2 - "At least 4 wires to every room" - interestingly I have done
this on th=
=3D=0D
e design=20
already although I'm still thinking about adding more. I know this may
soun=
=3D=0D
d daft but=20
I've got none going to any bathooms or toilets - has anyone actually run
ca=
=3D=0D
t5e to=20
such rooms?

3 - Is there anywhere else I might want to consider running a cable e.g.
an=
=3D=0D
external=20
socket?

4 - Shielded or Unshielded cable? I really can't decide - to be on the
safe=
=3D=0D
side I'd=20
prefer to go with shielded but is it really necessary for home networking?

5 - Can anyone recommend a good place to get bulk cable from (will need a
g=
=3D=0D
ood=20
400-500 metres) and double RJ45 sockets etc.? Have so far been looking at
B=
=3D=0D
and Q=20
(www.diy.com) and dabs.com

Once again, thank you for all of your comments - has all been extremely
use=
=3D=0D
ful.

:o)
Ant
