Hi All,

Statement on "The Purpose Of KAT5-Users"

The reasons behind setting up this group were twofold, both as listed by
Mark Harrison.

Primarily it is for the support of KAT5 Users (hence the name) in the same
way as HomeVision-Users. It is also there to discuss the "wish
list" of
features that people want.

A secondary role is for the discussion of AV related problems as these are
applicable to the environment in which KAT5 is intended to be used.

It is also intended to remove the KAT5 discussion from UKHA_D to avoid
upsetting people on that list who dont have any interest in KAT5.

As has been seen from the EPOD, Fujitsu, and Kodak issues these can
generate
huge amounts of traffic on the list to the annoyance of other members. To
some extent, I have failed in that intention as there has been quite a lot
of KAT5 discussion on UKHA_D. Hardly suprising when that is where most of
the early adopters came from :-)

Whilst KAT5 does have some relevance to Home Automation as the people into
HA are usually also into Home Cinema and general AV distribution, I believe
that any really indepth technical discussion is best taken off to the
appropriate forum.

I dont want this list to be dull and lifeless but I would appreciate it
being kept pretty much on topic, friendly and good natured. It appears that
all lists, except totally moderated ones, have a tendancy to wander off in
all sorts of directions at times but it is my intention to keep this list
unmoderated.

I have very restricted access to email and mailing lists before about 19:30
on weekdays so may not be able to respond to a message as soon as I would
like but will reply to messages in the evening and at weekends.

Guys,

As I see it, there are two things that this group _might_ be.

1: It could be an overflow of people from UKHA_D to take the messages
off the main group, sort of like [FujitsuTablets] or [EPODS].

2: It could be a formal support line for KAT5 stuff, sort of like
[HOMEVISION].

I don't think that this should be a democratic vote - I think that
Keith should tell us what kind of group he wants.... if it's the
latter, then we should behave like we would on, say, Craig's group
and keep the blowjob jokes out of here!

Keith - what do you want from this group?
